Preventive fire protection
Cable penetrations through walls and ceilings, supply and disposal lines of all kinds are the lifelines of our technical world. The uninterrupted transmission of energy, water and gases to all areas of, for example, a hospital, a factory or a chemical plant is something we take for granted.
Architects, building experts and legislators are aware of the potential dangers posed by such installation networks in terms of the spread of fire and smoke gases. Sealing off all supply and disposal lines that penetrate walls provides protection against the harmful effects of fire.
The task of preventive structural fire protection is to provide sealing systems that prevent the spread of fire and smoke through existing pipe penetrations, ceiling and wall openings. This can be ensured, for example, by fire protection/pipe collars.
A large number of requirements and regulations apply to pipe penetrations in connection with fire barriers, which together have led to the high safety standard in the field of fire protection in Germany. The fact that this is not an end in itself is also proven by the major fires that are unfortunately unavoidable but remain limited in scope.
