Mining museum in the Ore Mountains

Oelsnitz, Germany

The mining museum is a listed industrial building dating back to 1895/1935 and is located in a former mine. After the shaft was closed in 1971, it was converted into a museum and finally opened in 1986. Subsequently, further extensive renovation and modernization measures were carried out. DOYMA supplied the necessary sealing systems as part of this project, which involved a total investment of around 23 million euros.

Experience the mining museum in the Ore Mountains

The newly designed permanent exhibition now features famous personalities from the coal mining industry. In addition, the architecturally striking winding tower is once again accessible so that visitors can experience it first-hand. They also gain a vivid insight into the world underground and thus into the everyday life of miners at the time.

The extensive reconstruction and the associated structural changes have created a unique exhibition mine.

The Erzgebirgskreis district authority from Annaberg-Buchholz was the client for these complex renovation measures. IPRO Consult GmbH was responsible for the general planning in collaboration with KEM Kommunalentwicklung Mitteldeutschland GmbH for the project planning/design – both based in Dresden . One structural challenge was the careful sealing of media pipes and the fresh concrete composite sealing against pressing water. For this purpose, DOYMA supplied various Curaflex® and Curaflex Nova® sealing systems via STARK Deutschland GmbH from Schwarzenberg-Grünstädtel and the specialist wholesaler for plumbing and heating, Sächsische Haustechnik EDKI KG from Hartenstein, which were installed by the contractors Wolfgang Scharnagl GmbH from Annaberg-Buchholz and Heizungsbau Glückauf eG from Oelsnitz/Erzgebirge.
