New ward block - University Medicine

Halle-Wittenberg, Germany

Two years after the ground-breaking ceremony, University Medicine Halle opened the new "Haus 20" ward block at the main site in 2023. The new building offers over 200 beds for the internal medicine departments, including a 42-bed intermediate care unit (IMC) and a transplant ward for oncology patients. Eight beds are reserved for CAR-T cell therapies and aftercare following allogeneic stem cell transplants.

Functional architecture for modern medicine

Building 20 comprises five floors, each with around 1,500 m². The basement accommodates changing rooms, service areas and building services, while the top floor provides a further 900 m² of technical space. A passageway connects the building with the existing ward block 1 and serves as a shared entrance. The outdoor area extends the cafeteria terrace, and a playground for families is also planned.

Saxony-Anhalt is building on its university medicine. The modern ward block strengthens patient care, improves the working environment for employees and creates space for new diagnosis and treatment options.

The University Hospital in Halle (Saale) was the client for this exciting new building project. ZWP Ingenieur AG from Dresden was responsible for the general planning. The structural challenge lay in the professional, careful sealing of flexible, pre-insulated plastic and cable protection pipes as well as pipes that had already been laid as part of the subsequent sealing work. For this purpose, DOYMA supplied various Curaflex® products, including DOYMA's 25-year guarantee, via HTI Dinger & Hortmann KG from Zwenkau and Haustechnik Handel Halle-Dessau from Halle (Saale) , which were installed by the contractor HTR - Bau GmbH from Leipzig .
