Heat pumps are on the rise in both new builds and renovations. According to the German Building Energy Act (GEG), 65 percent of all new heating systems must be powered by renewable energy by mid-2028 at the latest. With air-to-water heat pumps in particular, the outdoor system is often installed directly on the house wall. This sensitive base area of the house must be specially protected, as up to 80 liters of condensate are produced every day when a heat pump is used, which must be drained away safely.
