Berlin was growing steadily and the demand for housing continued to increase. The state-owned housing construction companies Gewobag and WBM therefore planned the new WATERKANT Berlin district directly on the Oberhavel near the Spandauer Seebrücke. Everything was in "flow" along the Havel - public spaces and a transparent participation process promoted lively interaction.
WATERKANT Berlin - sustainable living in a new district
The district set new standards for sustainable living, responsible urban development and smart living concepts that were implemented with innovation and creativity. The Nordic principles of "hygge" and "lagom" served as inspiration for the development of the climate-friendly apartments.
The modern architecture combines clear forms, ecological materials and places for communal living. Affordable housing with a high quality of life and modern technologies for a green, networked city set the trend for Smart City Berlin. A mobility concept and climate protection were supported by an innovative energy concept.
Gewobag Wohnungsbau-Aktiengesellschaft from Berlin was the client for this exciting new-build project. BKS Architekten from Bielefeld was responsible for the general planning. The structural challenge lay in the creation of recesses to prevent the penetration of pressurized water. The use of Curaflex® 3000 special fiber cement lining pipes in sizes DN 150, DN 200 and DN 500 creates a homogeneous connection to the concrete, reinforced by the special grooving. For this purpose, DOYMA supplied the Curaflex® 3000 lining pipes via the Team-Baucenter from Berlin , which were installed by the contractor Kalluba GmbH from Berlin-Spandau .
