The Klettwitz wind farm in Brandenburg, consisting of the Klettwitz North and Klettwitz South sections, was built back in 1999. At that time, 38 Vestas V66-1.65 MW wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 66 m, a hub height of 78 m and a rated output of 1.65 MW each were used. On the operator side, both suitability areas were combined to form a joint wind farm. With a total output of around 63 MW, it was one of the most powerful wind farms in Europe when it was inaugurated.
Fresh wind for renewable energies
Two Vestas V90-2 MW turbines were added in 2006. During repowering in 2014/15, all of the old turbines were replaced by 27 Vestas V112-3.3 MW wind turbines, while the two newer V90 turbines remained in place. This gave the wind farm a total capacity of 93 MW.
The John Laing Group took over the 27 new turbines in October 2015. in 2017, five more wind turbines of the same type were added as part of the southern expansion. The second construction phase saw the installation of ten additional Vestas V117-3.3 MW turbines, which were commissioned at the beginning of 2020.
DOYMA supplied the Klettwitz wind farm with high-quality sealing systems for the safe installation of the infrastructure. An impressive project that shows how renewable energies and sustainable energy policy can be successfully implemented.
Enercity Erneuerbare GmbH was the client for this exciting construction project. The construction challenge was to seal penetrations professionally and carefully, whether for use in on-site casing pipes or in waterproof concrete core drillings (white tank). An extra wide, soft EPDM rubber, which is ideal for plastic casing pipes, is suitable for this purpose. For this purpose, DOYMA supplied special versions of Curaflex® type C/0 and type C40, which were installed by the contractor Behse Betonbohr- und Betonsägetechnik, Vermietung- und Dienstleistungs GmbH from Krefeld .
