WATERKANT Berlin – Sustainable living in a new district

Berlin is growing and increasingly needs new living space. The state-owned housing developers Gewobag and WBM have therefore planned the new WATERKANT Berlin neighborhood directly on the Oberhavel near the Spandauer Seebrücke. Along the Havel, everything is virtually in "flow". The lively neighborhood is promoted by public spaces and a transparent participation process. The new neighborhood will also set new standards for responsible and smart living, and will be implemented with innovation and creativity. In developing the climate-friendly apartments, the recipes for happiness from northern Europe, such as "Hygge" and
"Lagom," as models. 

In terms of modern architecture, one finds simple forms in harmony with the environment and meeting places for communal living. Affordable, socially acceptable housing with a high quality of life combined with the latest technologies for a green, efficient and networked city are trend-setting for the Smart City Berlin. This also includes a holistic mobility concept and ecological climate protection, which will be ensured by an innovative energy concept. Since June 2020, the new quarter has already been bustling with life, as the first apartments in the first construction phase have already been rented out. The entire quarter will be completed by 2025.
