Halle University Medical Center opens new building “House 20” for internal medicine departments
Halle-Wittenberg
In 2023, two years after the groundbreaking ceremony, Halle University Hospital opened a new ward block at the main site of the university hospital. The new “House 20” building offers capacity for over 200 patient beds in the internal medicine departments. In addition to an intermediate care ward, it also houses a transplant ward for oncology patients.
The new ward block – located near the main entrance – has five floors, each with a total area of 1,500 square meters. The ground floor houses an intermediate care station (IMC) with 42 beds, while the four floors above it house the wards of the university clinics and polyclinics for internal medicine I to IV. At least eight beds have also been created here for CAR-T cell therapies and the follow-up care of patients with complications after allogeneic stem cell transplantation. The premises have the necessary structural and technical requirements to provide the best possible care for severely immunosuppressed patients who require monitoring. Changing rooms, service areas, and building services are located in the basement, while an additional 900 square meters are available for technical equipment in the attic. A passageway connects Building 20 with Ward 1 and also serves as the entrance to both buildings. The outdoor area in front of the building extends the cafeteria terrace. An adjoining playground for families is also planned.
