Mining museum in the ore mountains
Oelsnitz - Germany
The mining museum is a listed industrial building from 1895/1935 and housed in a former mine. As early as 1971, the shaft was closed and conversion to a museum operation took place, which was opened in 1986. In the further course, comprehensive renovation and modernization measures were developed, which have meanwhile been implemented. DOYMA is supplying the necessary sealing systems for the project with a total investment of about 23 million euros.
In the newly developed permanent exhibition, famous personalities of the coal mining industry are to appear in the future. In addition, small oases of peace are to be created amid tropical plants. The architecturally striking winding tower is to be open to visitors again. In addition, visitors will be able to gain an insight into the world underground and thus into the everyday life of the miners.
The structural changes associated with the museum renovation will provide exciting insights into the unique exhibition mine. Look forward to the reopening in 2023, by which time all measures should be completed and the museum accessible again!
